- 550 local jobs retained
- 30-plus-year commitment to the Abilene community
Modernizing Long-Standing Abilene Operations
AbiMar Foods, a subsidiary of Grupo Nutresa, has manufactured cookies and crackers in Abilene for over 30 years. AbiMar Foods will invest $15 million to expand and modernize two of its three Abilene facilities. The modernization project includes increasing automation and upgrading equipment designed to enhance production capacity and support the AbiMar Foods’ long-term growth strategy.
The DCOA facilitated the expansion through its Business Retention and Expansion program, which works proactively to support existing employers as they grow and invest in Abilene.
“AbiMar Foods is proud to continue deepening our roots in Abilene. The workforce, the partnerships and the community support we have in Abilene are the primary reasons we are investing to modernize our operations here.”
A Global Company Investing in West Texas
The expansion is a testament to Abilene’s position in the global marketplace. As a subsidiary of Grupo Nutresa, the leading processed food company in Colombia, AbiMar Foods represents a long-standing international investment in West Texas, showcasing the city’s ability to support global companies seeking long-term growth in the United States.
“AbiMar Foods has built more than three decades of success in Abilene, and their $15 million investment demonstrates the confidence established employers have in our community. In fact, AbiMar Foods has invested an additional $4 million in their Abilene operation in the past two years. AbiMar’s commitment to continue investing in Abilene strengthens our community’s manufacturing industry and reflects the kind of long-term reinvestment the DCOA works to support every day.”
A Long-Term Commitment to Abilene
AbiMar Foods has called Abilene home for more than 30 years. This latest investment reinforces the company’s continued commitment to the community, its workforce and the future of manufacturing in Abilene while positioning its operations for continued growth in the years ahead.
The project highlights the importance of supporting existing industries that have already chosen to invest in Abilene and continue to see the community as a place where businesses can thrive.
