ABILENE, TEXAS — The Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA) has been named a 2025 Impact Award winner by Business Facilities, placing Abilene among the top-performing economic development organizations in the nation.
The Abilene, Texas Stargate 1 Project was one of fewer than 20 projects recognized nationally with an Impact Award. The DCOA received the award for the Stargate 1 data center project, recognized in the Sustainability/Data Centers category. The DCOA, in collaboration with the City of Abilene and Taylor County, secured and supported the expansion of the Stargate 1 project.
The project was showcased alongside significant investments within the aerospace, healthcare, automotive, and energy industries. Each year, Business Facilities’ Impact Awards showcase corporate relocation and expansion investments that are making a significant impact on the communities in which they are located. The awards are evaluated based on capital investment, job creation, innovation, and community impact.
“This national recognition reflects the Development Corporation of Abilene’s strategic focus on building a stronger, more prosperous Abilene. Global companies and long-standing employers alike choose to expand and invest because Abilene, Texas offers the stability, workforce, and pro-business approach that companies need to thrive.”
Full coverage of the 2025 Deal of the Year and Impact Award winners will appear in the January/February 2026 issue of Business Facilities or on the Business Facilities Website.
