Effective Operations

Effective Operations

Ensure DCOA’s effectiveness to continue long-term success and impact for Abilene in economic development.

Establish sustainable mission-critical operations that maximize the DCOA’s effectiveness in implementing strategies aligned with the Mission.

Strategies include:

  • Employ systems to ensure engagement of qualified and dedicated Staff and Board members to ensure their contributions through effective training and education.
  • Manage engagement of Partners to help deliver aspects of the DCOA’s comprehensive responsibilities.
  • Implement best practices for policies and financial management systems to ensure future strategic projects are considered, as well as appropriate budgeting, monitoring, recording, and reporting of financial practices.

PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS

The DCOA’s information and records are subject to the Texas Public Information Act (the “Act”).  All information requests by the public for official documents from the DCOA should be directed to the DCOA’s Records Management Officer using one of the methods set forth below.  The request must ask for records or information already in existence. The Act does not require the DCOA to create new information, to do legal research, or to answer questions.

Provided there are no extenuating circumstances, the DCOA normally processes and releases records within 10 business days but will make every effort to process each request as soon as possible following receipt.  If an exception to a public information request might apply and the DCOA wishes to withhold the information, the DCOA generally must, within 10 business days of receiving the public information request, refer the matter to the Office of the Attorney General for a ruling on whether an exception applies to the public information request.

A sign containing basic information about the rights of a requestor, the responsibilities of the DCOA and the procedures for inspecting or obtaining public information is posted in the DCOA’s offices and may also be viewed by clicking THIS LINK.
